About the SESD Programme What we are aiming at through the SESD programme, is to enhance the effectiveness and sustainability of Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges in general, and in particular the targeted provincial colleges. This can only be realised by establishing an environment of support that enables the Colleges to deliver quality programmes that are responsive to the needs of the world of work, including the SMME sector, that are in line with the needs of society.
The SESD Programme feels privileged to be part of such a valuable and exciting process of transformation that brings all the following diverse stakeholders together: DANIDA, members of the Departments of Labour and Education, College Management, Council's and Staff, Financing Institutions, Businesses and SETAS. There is no doubt that the collective challenge we face is vast, but we trust that with the collective enthusiasm and skills of those involved, shaping the new FET landscape is formidable.
Vision The programme vision is that the new Further Education and Training (FET) Colleges, driven by demand, should meet the needs of the community, that the quality of education provided should increase the employability of young men and women, and contribute to the creation of more responsible citizenry and a better life for all.
Mission In support of this vision, the SESD Programme aims to assist in the construction of a modern, effective and efficient responsive FET band, by supporting the delivery of demand-driven education and skills training that is practical and oriented to the labour market, and responsive to the needs of learners, employers and the wider community.
In order for the sector to be able to cope with this huge challenge and contribute effectively to the envisioned changes, capacity building is needed in many fields for Departmental Officials, College Governors, Senior Management, Administrative, Technical and Teaching Staff of colleges.
