What is engineering and Related Designs in a nutshell?
In a nutshell engineering and related designs is all aspects of engineering design in the mechanical, geological and fabrication engineering fields. This course integrates academic knowledge and theory with practical skills and drawings.

Which are the fundamental subjects?
The 3 fundamental subjects are:

  • Language which must at least be a language of teaching and learning,
  • Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy and
  • Life Orientation.

What are the vocational subjects in Engineering and Related Designs?
The vocational subjects in Engineering and Related Designs are:

  • Engineering Fundamentals
  • Engineering Technology
  • Fitting and Turning
  • Automotive repair & Maintenance
  • Engineering Fabrication

These subjects are offered at each of the different NQF Levels of study in the National Certificate (Engineering and Related Designs) qualification.
